Comic Book UK, the representative body for the UK’s comic book industry, has welcomed the settlement that the Treasury has agreed with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) in the Spending Review 2025.
Mark Fuller, Chief Executive of Comic Book UK, said:
“The spending review has rightly reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting growth in Britain’s world-leading creative industries, of which comics are a foundational part.
The review commits the Government to increased investment in the creative industries as one of the UK’s eight growth-driving sectors over the coming years. UK comics are primed as an effective engine of growth in the creative industries, able to quickly reach huge global markets, generate valuable IP and nurture the talent that other parts of the creative sector rely on.
This commitment to invest in the creative industries, coupled with the sensible efficiency plans that DCMS has outlined today, pave the way for the Government to target support that helps unlock the full potential of the UK comics industry.
We look forward to the full creative industries sector plan in the coming weeks and working with the Government to ensure that comics play a full part in its delivery.”
